
Movement is not a reward, it’s a requirement in order to thrive. Movement supports emotional regulation, develops attention systems, primes the brain for learning, and builds physical competency. The practice of movement magically guides our kids towards creativity, resilience and confidence.
Verote’s “Play in the Day” program offers an environment that mixes fun, movement and physical activity. Our sessions run 6 to 8 weeks depending on the time of year. Our Fall session will run outdoors at a park in Newmarket while our Winter & Spring sessions runs out of the Newmarket Indoor Soccer Facility located at 621 Newpark Blvd.
Programming is for kids ages 5 – 13 years old (Limited Space). Ages 5-6 will run in the same space but separately from ages 7 – 13. Any child can float between group activities if they choose.
Our program is unique in that it’s divided into 6 weekly sessions before the next program session begins. You can continue for the full duration of the program which runs from October to June or you can choose which 6 week blocks you’d like to participate. And if even more flexibility is required, you can choose the drop in option.
Programming will run consecutively through fall/winter and spring. PiD Program pauses during for summer months for Verote’s Summer Camps.

Our programming focuses on developing a child’s ability to move competently by exposing them to multiple sports and movement activities.

One of the challenges for Homeschoolers is regular access to participate in sport activities. Most sport activities service the larger community and typically begin after 4pm and/or run on weekends. Our program runs during the day offering the opportunity to add sport activity during the day when your child’s energy is highest and a chance to play with other Homeschoolers. In addition to gaining access to a multitude of sports “Play in the Day” fosters an outlet for peer to peer socializing.
Kids are not aware of these reasons but they will naturally seek out movement and play in order to:
1. Develop Skills and Confidence.
2. Practice/develop the ability to Emotionally Regulate and have fun.
3. Make friends (Social Connection).
Here’s the challenge. The same reasons that drive us towards play can also be the inhibitors that create resistance keeping us from it too. If a child is not confident in their ability to move (they’ll be less likely to want to try). Or, if they have a hard time managing their emotions, when an emotion surfaces during play due to a mistake (i.e. frustration, anger, or embarrassment – the response is often “flight”). Also, if they don’t have a friend (or feel like they won’t be able to make friends) to share the experience with – the desire to participate is low. The reasons for and preventing play are always in flux. Verote does it’s best to guide kids through the variability of play. The one thing we know – our ability to support each child gets better with practice. And the same goes for play – the more kids play, the better they become not just with handling play but with handling life!
