Girl’s Day for Play

It’s no secret that girls are fully capable playing sport but they are not as visible as they can be in sport. And as enter into prepubescence and there’s a greater awareness that they are different than boys, their participation in sport is reduced. The willingness to play with boys decreases and many girls ignore sport all together leaving less opportunities for those that want to continue to play with their female counterparts.

The number of girls that attend Verote camps is far less than the number of boys. And when they do attend, they tend to stick to themselves and shy away from participating in play with the boys. Marcus (Verote Founder) has noticed when observing past campers who he sees as normally quiet and reserved, take on a very different light when those same campers are in an all girls setting like a Girl Guides meeting.

I’ve seen first hand how girls from my camps can sometimes shy away from participating in play with boys. But vibrantly shine in a whole different when they are in an all-girls environment. It saddens me that girls can suppress themselves around boys. Girls deserve to play too! So I’d like to foster an opportunity to encourage more girls to play with a Girls Only Play Day.
