Pronounced ‘veh-row-tay’. Verote is made up of two Italian words. VERO = True and TE = you. Verote’s mission is to help kids understand what a “passion” is, the importance of them and help to encourage them to discover what their passions are. The things you are most passionate about are connected to your true calling. What a world we would have if more people pursued their calling. What a life you would have if you spent your days doing the thing(s) you are most passionate about. For Marcus (Verote Founder), that’s kids and physical activity.
YES! There is no set skill level. You learn at your own pace. If you are new to soccer, expect to feel frustrated as you work at developing a new skill. Verote camp leaders are here to encourage and help each child evolve. Learning to work through frustration is an awesome skill to develop – not just for soccer.
Camp day runs from 9am to 4pm. Drop-off and pick-up can be up to 30 mins before or after. Drop off 8.00a to 8.30a ($20/day), Pick-up 4.30p to 5p ($15/day), or $25/day for both. Note that care will include supervision but the child will take the lead in how to occupy their time. One of the goals of Verote is to foster a child’s ability to create for themselves.
Yes! We run PA Day camps, programming for special events and onsite sport/movement programming for schools.
Your child will not be in the sun the entire day. Verote is very mindful of too much sun exposure. Our decision in choosing a location is dependent upon options for shade and shelter. Our chosen locations will allow us to comfortably take a break from the sun to recharge and include shelter in the event of heavy rain.
In order to foster social engagement and connection amongst campers, Verote maintains a “zero screen” policy. This policy extends to Verote camp leaders with the exception of the onsite camp directors who may use their phone for communication with parents/guardians.
The mastery of basic movement and sport skills allows kids to move with confidence and competency into a wide range of physical activity and sport participation. If a child is competent at moving, they’ll be confident to move and thereby motivated to participate. A child who is self-conscious about their ability will avoid that activity. It’s no different for an adult. The easy choice is to stay in your ‘comfort zone’. Developing ‘Physical Literacy’ applies to young and old (Marcus falls into the “old” category, so he much prefers the use of a term like “mature” instead of “old” :).
Some examples of physical literacy include running, rolling, jumping, pulling (pull-up, to climb a tree), pushing (push-up, to cushion a fall), catching, lifting and balance.
Verote maintains a child to leader ration of 8:1.
Soccer shoes and shin guards are not required. If you have, you can bring but you’ll be fine without. Just ensure that you also have properly fitting running shoes for physical activity.
There’s nothing wrong with getting wet during a passing rain shower. If the weather persists we have a large pavilion to rely on that can easily provide cover for 100 people. If we spend a significant amount of time under the pavilion, that’s when magic can happen. When creativity rises, conversations start and independant play surfaces. And there’s always the fallback of the Verote Team offering games and activities to captivate campers.
We do not provide snacks or lunch at camp. Please bring enough food for 2 – 3 snack times and a substantial lunch. Marcus (the founder) and his family are very committed to healthy eating. They are strong believers in “how you fuel your body is directly connected to how your body serves you”. We do hope that one day we can offer lunch/snacks as a service.
Discounts are offered for registrations at full price. For sign ups where the initial price through a promotion is already discounted, multi-registration discounts are not applicable.
